Devourment-Unleash the carnivore

Devourment is back, this album has t be one of the most anticipated ones in brutal death metal 2009. We got a preview a couple of months ago and let me tell you, it’s like fucking a tight cunt till it bleeds (totally awesome and makes my dick feel good). This is a brutal death massacre with a huge production, every aspect of Devourments gurgling grisly music is allowed to make its impression, this is beautifully mixed to let all that raw anal impalement of musicianship come to the fore and rip your neck with it. This is a pure fucking hard-on for the duration of the record. So let’s break it down and look at the album itself. The songs are as usual made up of some low frequency guttural vocals that sound expertly executed and with some variations in the vox patterns aswell, not just simple monotone gargling of menstrual effluence. The riffs are big and could easily fit in any sludge bands repertoire. The drumming is insane at times, this just isn’t for the weak, this is empowering nun-slaughtering, skin-peeling brutal music, it’s the kind of music anyone with any taste will get off to.

I will put this on tonight get myself a blowjob at 100 decibel.

Incinerated clitoral region-paranormal impulse to kill

After an almost two minutes long intro we are greeted with the shittiest kind of homegrown trashbag-wankery, low quality retarded guitars that sound like they’re being played underwater and a singer who thinks he’s in Mayhem or perhaps Gorgoroth. Let me tell you, whispered growls sound like FUCKING SHIT YOU MORONS!

Necrotic disgorgement-Suffocated in shrinkwrap

I have to say that this fills my ears as nicely as my cock fills my girlfriends tight cunt. High velocity blasts and low frequency gurgles from the pits of the mass-graves in Treblinka. Some awesome riffs and solos accompany this release on its way to a great fucking review, not much to complain about really, it’s just a solid record with some really good axe wankery and oral action.

Pigtails-Demo 4

Low frequency goreporngrind with what has to be one of the most irritating drum machines out on the market. Nothing new here anyways, some songs about fucking like normal people do, you know where the girl has atleast three holes waiting for some deep penetration. Where the female/females are nothing more than meatholes meant for male sexual pleasure. You know, the good life, the way the world really is, the way retarded feminists don’t want it to be. Genitals are for fucking and that’s what we do with them. Fuck this demo is actually pretty groovy and the quality of the production is top- standard for this genre I think.
Lets molest eachother a bit more though, let us gape female ass and listen to some porn-inspired brutality.

Rectal smegma-Keep on smiling

This is fast brutal shiteater music, this is the soundtrack to Saló, this is the soundtrack to all German porn-stars thoughts. This is some sick shit really but it misses some points due to the vox not being varied enough in my head (enough with the OOOOAOOAOOAOOAOAOAOA). Some great riffs and weird samples of indigenous music with what sounds like a kids-flute (no, not that British abducted kids asshole) and some really drunken singing. So put two girls one cup on the TV and put this on as a soundtrack to that. Shit-eating is an art-form in itself.

Tzun Tzu-Kunoichi

This traditional Japanese folk inspired death-metal album (ep) is one weird thing really. I don’t get to hear much of these sorts of bands but this is so awesome. It’s got the fingertip sensitivity of Japanese culture combined with modern brutal death-metal in the same vein as some of the American bands. Some fucking awesome riffs complete this transition between old and new, this is what the anthropological society would call globalization, I would say this is some really good globalization. This is the Japanese version of bands such as Arhont, Nile and all those Scandinavian black-folk-metal bands. I highly recommend this to those of you out there with a taste for ethnic sounding good bands with some feeling. This is some really great shit, so go out there and get it.

Interview with Martin Eklöv from Splattered Mermaids (originally done for www.decayed-metal.com)

this interview was done last year and is translated from Swedish to English for your pleasure (or suffering). i hope you`ll enjoy it.

i had a little chat with Martin Eklöv in Splattered Mermaids about the future, the past and such trivial things

Q: Your debut album was reviewed by us not long ago and got a good grade, looking around people seem to share our thoughts, does it feel good to have released a welcome record?

A: Yes we are very surprised and happy for the reception we got after the release. Having been local favourites for many younger deathheads, we now see people of all ages taking interest in us. In the Czech Republic, wich we visit every year, theres a horde of grind-people who love our shows and our music. It feels so fucking great to hear that since we look up to them equally as much. Fuck it the guy who fixed one of our gigs at Metal Open Air in Olomouc printed a poster the size of a barn wall where the Splattered logo covered a fourth of it, hes a huge fan and it felt awesome.

Q: What does the future hold?

A: The future is that after coming home from two weeks of beerdrinking and headbanging we look forward to more livegigs. We just did one on Extreme Feast , and on the 19th of july there will be some serious destruction with The Berzerker and the Trelleborgband Purified Hatred in Trelleborg. We want to play so fucking much right now since the motivation is on top as is the development, both as a band and as individuals

Q: What is the weirdest memory (if any) from the recording of Stench of flesh?

A: Weird memory? Haha, had you been in the studio you wouldnt have been able to separate the weird things from the outright stupid. Splattered mermaids is a very sick bunch where the humor stays far below the radar of what should be called humour. Micke who recorded the songs with us had to go home and shower everyday since he felt dirty. But the weirdest thing according to me was how Martin (drums) could create everything i had thought of, every fill and break that i had a vision of, well he made those without me ever telling him my opinion, weird? Who knows..

Q: What do you guys do when not playing music?

A: Johan (guitar) studies at Musikhögskolan(Musical university) and Johan (vox) works in a restaurant. Martin (drums) works at fucking IKEA and i at MYRORNA as a muscleman wannabe. When we arent doing this i guess theres alot of masturbation going on, well for everyone but Martin whos got a girlfriend.

Whats it like backstage at a Splattered mermaids gig?

A: Backstage its very calm and relaxing, some bad “yo momma” jokes but otherwise resting and beerdrinking. We are very social dudes and dont hesitate to sit down next to some drunk and talk about shit for a couple of hours. That sort of activity works better abroad than in Sweden though, here you get categorised as some kind of local retard if youre talking to someone just to be social. But....

Q: Lamb of gods video for the song Redneck shows the band arriving at and subsequently playing a little girls birthday, would you do such a thing?

A: Hell yeah, we got offered to play a girls birthdayparty a while ago. Hmm i wonder whatever happened to that gig....On the other hand we have our younger fans whod really like for us to play everywhere on different arrangements, great shit.

Q: Any last honourable words?

A: The last “honourable words” that would represent Splattered Mermaids would be: “Drop your pants and I`ll make u Swedish”..

Chris Andrews (Devourment) Interview [done for www.decayed-metal.com]

This interview was done last year and is a bit dated, it was posted on www.decayed-metal.com at that time however. i decided to repost it here since some people might find it interesting, lits of great words from Chris.
so here we go, enjoy!

I had a quick mail-chat with bassist Chris Andrews of Devourment.

Q: what are the plans for the band as of 2008, will we see more of Devourment soon?

A: You'll probably see less of Devourment. We've had to turn down so many festival and tour offers this year that it makes me want to fucking cry. The only live event we have planned for the remainder of 2008 is Central Illinois Metalfest, and maybe a couple of local shows. We're mainly focusing on the new album that, in the process of writing as we speak, and we'll probably record it and release it on Brutal Bands this year.

Q: what about us europeans? is there any chance for a tour over here?

A: You must have missed the BUTCHERING EUROPE TOUR last May. We hit about 8 countries in Europe and had a complete blast, despite the United Queendom's better efforts to fuck us over royally. The greatest crowds in the world, unless there are some rabid scenes in the Middle East, Nigeria, or Antarctica that we don't know about, are in Europe. The NRW crew is at the center of some of the most insane moshing we've ever seen. We would love to go back, but we've got an Aversion to Using Vacation Time.

Q: what are your influences?

A: Ric Flair, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chris Benoit, Motley Crue, Kurt Angle, Appetite for Destruction, Rambo, Metallica, RVD/THC, Luis Bunuel, Hieronymus Bosch, Ted Bundy... I'd list death metal, but, come on... we all know George W. Bush is influenced by George H.W. Bush, let's move on to something new.

Q: what about the music music industry today, is there even space for more bands/artists

A: I'd say no, but I'm a pessimist. There are too many bands with nothing new or original to say and too little motivational resources to be divided up amongst them, so, to these "more bands/artists," I say give up the dream before your level of obligation becomes too large, and get a real job. But, by the same token, nothing would make me happier than to be proven wrong in this respect.

Q: do you have any advice to lesser known bands out there?

A: Be an artist. Be a genius. Be a visionary, a trailblazer, a unique, untouchable star from outer space, but, for fuck's sake, don't start a band because you really like the way something sounds and want to sound like that... this type of motivation usually leads to scene pollution and band failure. If you've got a sound that nobody else has and you play quality shows and release well-produced recordings, there's no way you won't be able to rise out of lesser-known-dom. But the most sure-fire formula to underground band success is touring all the damn time -- make a full-time job out of it. It is quite the gamble, but the bands that do this make a name for themselves almost 100% of the time if they stick with it for a couple of years.

Q: what are your thoughts on piracy, do downloads hurt the band? or just the corporations?

A: I'm a pirate of the seven seas at heart, so the sheer fact that downloading/copying media is called "piracy" makes it A-OK in my book. But I personally don't download shit anymore -- partially out of paranoia, partially out of laziness, partially out of never being able to make the more recent file sharing programs work for me, and partially out of respect for working artists who deserve compensation for their efforts. I don't even know how many copies of our CD have been sold, so I sure as fuck have no idea if we've personally been "hurt" by downloading, but the fact of the matter is, in 2008, you can't go back -- you can't return the world to a state where, in order to enjoy a piece of media, you have to fork over money for it in exchange for a neatly produced little package. Since they installed record buttons on tape decks (and probably before that in media other than music), we've found ways to copy recordings and redistribute them on our own terms, and those methods just keep getting simpler and simpler. We're all broke, and there's too much shit that we "have to check out," so it's no wonder people resort to downloading. I personally wait until I know for sure that something is completely genius and life-enriching before I purchase it, which explains why I rarely get exposed to anything anymore.

Q: whats a Devourment show like? backstage crazies?

A: A Devourment show is like a plane taking off that you know is going to crash, but that's the reason you're flying it. It's like the ship transport scene from Fitzcarraldo or the battle scenes from Braveheart. It's like the entire venue, however big or small it is, turns into a single, living, breathing beast that can crush buildings and destroy masses of people with a stomp of its foot. Being at the head of it is quite amazing... it's like really great sex, except it's with hundreds of people and it's violent and loud enough to damage your hearing. I used to be a total folded-arms tech-and-speed guy with a "guilty pleasure" view of breakdowns, but I love the fact that our music is full of mosh parts, because the high is always increased by the level of crowd participation/activity. I like it when the crowd gets crazy and reckless and it feels like we're weaving a car at top speed through moderate traffic. Our sub-sub-genre is brutal death metal, but when you peel back the layers, it still all branches off of Rock & Roll, and Rock & Roll is all about this unstable destructive force that our shows tend to conjure. As far as "backstage crazies" go, I feel like our level of debauchery is kind of minor league, but we have a good time. I typically party all day like it's a sport and there's a scoreboard with my name on it, running around looking for adventure, but at the same time trying not to do anything too outlandishly stupid or disrespectful like start fights with police or destroy the valued property of the undeserving. When other nut jobs like Embalmer or Condemned get involved, it becomes a whirlwind of decadent brutal stupidity.

Q: Any last words?

A: Haters wanna hate. Lovers wanna love. I don't even want none of the above. I want to piss on you. Yes I do, I'll piss on you. I'll pee on you.

so there you have it, if you're retarded you've probably missed that Devourments new album is out any day now, so...fucking get it when it arrives.

Stench of dismemberment-Cannibalistic urge

This is high speed brutality with a hint of slam perhaps but more focused on reaching those really brutal terminal velocities. There’s some really sick distorted riffing going on here and the vox are as comprehensible as a drunken Scottish highlander on a sheep raping binge. I have to say this goes melds nicely with my cerebrally impaired headbanger skull. This is actually worth breaking your neck over and I hope that lots more of this sort of demented deranged sickness is coming our way in the foreseeable future.

Meatknfe-Brutalized blowjob

Symphonic intro, this could never go well with the clear porno influences that the song-titles showed, well it sets the mood pretty well that’s for sure. Slam is the meal of the day and its done with some fucked up vocals that aren’t your everyday brutal death variety, they don’t sound the same but still sound great. They’re just pretty badly mixed I guess and could easily have been given a more prevalent impact on the record. At times I have to say they sound like true shit, in this case that is bad. Some simple crude riffs accompany the vocals and they are actually not shit sounding and sound like someone actually thought of them while mixing. Drumming is pretty generic I think, not too much to say about it. Overall very generic slam and sadly enough not to great, not bad either but there’s a lot of better stuff out there.

Katalepsy/Fleshrot/Blunt force trauma-Triumph of evolution [split]

Katalepsy starts off this veritable feast of pure sickening fuckmusic, this was created to bang both head and female anus at the same time. The boys have created riffs that my neck find really enjoyable and pleasant, like really tight snatches in rows waiting to polish your erect penis. The vocals are as always in this genre just sick guttural grunts coming from some deformed cavity within some decomposing holding cell made of flesh. Next up is Fleshrot, the first noticeable thing is that there’s a slight change in production and sound. This has more of an technical sound to it and less of the brutality created by their predecessors, I’m almost waiting for that clean vocals chorus at times. This is more in the vein of perhaps Cannibal corpse than the more slam oriented Katalepsy. But this shit is still good like the Japanese scat-pornstars usually say. There are still lots of brutal moments here aswell and the vocals seem to have more range to them. Last band out is Blunt force trauma, these guys go for pure slam all the way. Changing pace from really slow to high-speed blasts, all accompanied by some usual brutal vox (see Katalepsys description). What Blunt force trauma offers up is some great party tunes to just fucking rock out to and beat people senseless with. But alas they fall at the originality line wich most slam bands tend to do, as I have stated before: step away from Devourment and try something new. All in all this split offers a great insight into the state of brutal music today and could easily be enjoyed by fans of it.

Bitch Infection-Tanga mortale

Let’s start off with some porn shall we? Yes of course we shall. Then add some pretty boring generic grind to it and say its for fun. This is pretty boring since the riffs are to simple and not played at enough speed to really give an impression of fucking rock n roll. Burping vocals and song-titles containing different combinations of rectum, anal, pussy, dildo and violence, that’s what’s on this record. If you don’t get the picture let me just tell you that you don’t have to listen to 48 songs like I did, just leave this shit on the shelf and molest your dog or neighbor instead.

Interview with Chris from Awaiting the autopsy

I hooked up with Chris from Awaiting the autopsy via mail and shot some questions at him:

Q:
You guys just released your debut album, could you tell me a little about it? Did the lyrics or the music come first? And how does it feel to have released something as anticipated as this album actually is? I suppose you’re satisfied with the end result of the recording but was it a long process to narrow the songs down or decide what to keep etc (who came up with the hilarious MC Hammer sample?)?

A:
Hey Dennis, how are you doing?

Just as you mentioned before, we released our debut full lenght „couldn't tell the bodies apart“ due Amputated Vein Records (Japan) a few weeks ago. We've worked on this record for at least one year and are very satisfied, holding the final copys in our hands!
In addition to the songwriting, which was followed by the pressure to satisfy those people who digged the promo, it has been my first own-production. So, especially myself was very excited whether the people will like it or not.

But the previous feedback is pretty stunning! Especially the MC Hammer sample seems to work out as the metal quote of the year. Meant as a joke to open the slam part of the song – it seems like many people have the same stupid sense of humor the way i see it.

Q:
Will you tour to support the record? If so where and when?

A:
Painfully we will not tour with ATA! We received a bunch of request (e.g. Death Feast Open Air) but it's pretty hard to come together with the full band in the moment cuz we all have main bands which are pretty active.
For now, the album must be enough to satisfy you guys.
But who knows, maybe we'll find the time to go on tour at a later date...

Q:
What were the main influences for this album and for the forming of the band?

A:
Our main influences are Guttural Secrete, Wormed & Infested.

Even if our music is different to theirs, we love their stuff and got our inspiration through their music. Funny enough Briel and me decided to form this band during a Wormed show.
This is one reason why we are very proud to have Phlegeton's guest vocals on our album. He's an awesome artist and has an unique voice which has been a great enrichment to our song „slowmotion slide down the impalement stake“

Q:
There’s been sort of a high-tide in the slam death subgenre lately, do you feel like you’re riding that wave or not?

A:
To be honest, i'm pretty sure it's much to late to ride the high-tide. Some bands got their fame (e.g. Waking the Cadaver) but fans of Brutal-Death are tired of that so called „Deathcore-kids“.
Thats one of the reasons why they are hypercritical with new bands. Everything out of the Devourment universe seems to be false metal.

We dont care who's listening to our music – we love to please the metal heads, but don't mind if anybody else has a good time pumping our music.

Q:
As most of us know females that dig extreme music of this sort (Black metal seems to have a lot of girl followers in comparison) are very rare, is there any difference with having a female in the band from if you’d just be guys? Have you ever felt discriminated in any way because of it?

A:
Not at all! It's very cool having Ulli in the band. There is no difference working with a girl or a guy. Far from it! Most people are very open minded for this band cast and support us for what we do.
The remaining envious bitches can fuck off!

Q:
What do you guys do when not playing in a band? Are there any weird jobs or such?

A:
Boring ass life! Working or study and playing rockstar while answering interviews LOL.
Spare time is wasted with hobbies or our other bands: Corporectomy & Poostew.

Q:
Could you try to describe what Awaiting the autopsy stands for musically? And how did you guys meet in the first place?

A:
This is a hard one... we never followed the main target to reinvent the wheel when we started the band! It's our tribute to the Brutal Death scene, trying to perfom some negativ slam death the way we would love to hear it. We tried to work out a unique songwriting and an own sound at which Ulli's vocals helped a lot.
But mainly, Briel an me acted on instinct when we started to work on our first songs. Both got a Hardcore background so it has been easy to write groove and slam parts, the remains followed of its own volition.

Q:
Your demo was named “Eight girls instead of nine” why was it called that?

A:
Upon completion of the songwriting for the demo, we were looking for a lyrical content and disturbing name. „eight girls instead of nine“ seemed to work out just fine for this purpose.
Each song on the demo represents a chapter (you'll find girl 1 and girl 2 on the demo). Maybe one day we will finish the remaining chapters and you'll get the whole story, dunno yet!

Q:
As a Swede I’m almost ashamed that we came up with the Gothenburg sound, what’s your take on what is called commonly called “melodic death metal”? and what about other genres, what do you listen to at home or in your car?

A:
To be honest – i don't mind the Gothenburg sound. I don't listen to old bands such as „At the Gates“ or „Dark Tranquility“, but bands like „The Black Dahlia Murder“ (dig their Carcass influences, too!) & „Arsis“ have their right to exist!
But just like in every scene, many wack bands try to clone a good working concept and i'm sure this clone bands are the one you are ashamed of (Editors note, yes, the clones are the ones disturbing my sleep)! But this is a practice which you can easily find in every music genre!
My taste in music isn't settled on a main genre. I like Death Metal & Grind for sure but i'm also listening to Avant Garde music such as „Fantomas“ or "Bohren und der Club of Gore" as well.

Q:
This question has become something of an epic since I asked Dismember about it, would you do a gig at a wedding?

A:
May i ask for Dismember's answer first!?
Regarding us: not in the moment – but at a later date, why not?
As long as it's a a civil marriage and not connected with the church or any religion... LOL

Q:
And finally any last words for the readers/the world?

A:
Thank you for your patience to read this interview to the end! We would like to thank you all for the amazing support!
Feel free to visit our website www.myspace.com/awaitingtheautopsy and get in touch!
By the way – if you're listening to a downloaded version of our album up to now - feel free to get in touch with us and order a regular CD and/or Merch *g*! That would be sweet - haha!

Cheers!

Thank you Chris, i/we hope all goes well and you guys are able to continue to release sickness to the world. Awaiting the autopsy's debut album was reviewed by Intestinal Dismemberment here: http://intestinaldismemberment.blogspot.com/2009/05/awaiting-autopsy-couldnt-tell-bodies.html and is well worth the cost.

support the sickness.

Prostitute disfigurement-Embalmed madness

I fucking love this album its got all the nasty bits i love about brutal death, insanely catchy songs with crude samples and simple riffs. Some sick vox sounding like scraping sewer lids and blasting drums. It’s a fuckfest in audioform and one that is easy to get laid to. I put this on for some romantic shit with my girlfriend and you should to. If the cunt don’t appreciate this then shes not even worth putting your cock into. This is asslamming guttural vagina wrenching deathmetal, songstuctures and everything is so fucking beautiful, like Emma Watson on coke getting assfucked by Lexington Steele on the Jay Leno show. This makes my eyes water up a bit before my skull bobs violently and partially uncontrolled back and forth. Why did Prostitute disfigurement change? Why satan oh why???

Human Rejection-Torture of decimation

After a somewhat boring 32 second intro this album kickstarts with some very Prostitute disfigurementesque grooves, and by that I mean the ones before they went softcore and skipped their low freq gutturals. Simple riffs that get stuck in your brain like a 9mm slug at close range ensure the listenability of the album. This is simple fucking awesome stuff with lots of slam parts that make sure your head stays bobbing. Give this a chance and it will give you neck pains.

Guttural secrete-Reek of pubescent despoilment

This has been called one of modern death metals sickest albums by many and im inclined to agree, this is fucking sick and so extremely well done I have to bow down to these overlords of stench and death. The vocals on this album are so varied in their guttural glory and don’t sound as simple and monotone as many of their contemporaries have a tendency to do. You could easily masturbate to this and get one hell of an orgasm. The songs are mainly made up of catchy riffs and fucktastic drumming, but those preaching guttural sick vocals are what hooked me the most. Its fucking lovely and perverted, just the way I like it.

Drowning in Phemaldehyde-Blistering corpse abortion

Slam death outfit DiP have created one brutal fucking album with this release, these songs embody brutal slam death and all that it stands for. Low frequency gut gargling vocals and slow teeth grinding distorted sick riffs fornicating with blasts and pure fucking violence. They do however fall in the twisted cunt-trap that most slambands do, it all sounds so alike, some more variation in vox and perhaps some different stuff, some weird non copyrighted slam riffs perhaps. Step away from Devourment for a minute. Blistering corpse abortion is not a bad album per se, don’t think that, but it could use some more originality perhaps, go get it anywasy because as slam go this is a fucking Lesbian analplugging deathdildo wrestlingmatch.

Dark tranquility-Trail of life decayed [demo]

This was released in 1991 and the entire thing begins in the same vein as their latest offering upon the altar of madness, mellow and soft. Well after the intro the following three songs are like a mix of traditional death metal and some Swedish oldschool stuff. This to me sounds much more menacing and brutal than later givings and the melodic stuff isn’t that easy to spot. How something as dull as the Gothenburg sound evolved from something as good as this I will never understand. If you can get your grubby hands on this I recommend it fully, its got a good production for an early 90s demo and the songs are actually good.

Interview with Brent from Atrocious Abnormality (from www.decayed-metal.com)

I hooked up with Brent via E-mail to talk about a little bit of whatever, like the nice guy he is he took his time to answer my Q:s

Q: first off hows life treating you right now? with an album like Echoes of the rotting ?

Brent - Life is treatng us pretty good I suppose, gas prices are killing everyone, and its making it harder to go play shows. But the shows we are playing have been really good, and the crowds have been crazy. Looking forward to CIM and New England Deathfest coming up! Also the first pressing of our CD "Echoes of the Rotting" has almost sold out and is now at the factory getting re-pressed. So things are good!

Q: i read on your myspace page that you guys are about to go on tour in a couple of days in the states how does that feel? and do you have any plans for a european tour?

Brent - Yeah we did a tour in April through the southern part of the US, and it felt great to get out there on the road. We hit the road for 11 shows in a row with our bro Peter who is the band Bloodsoaked, and it went really well. We sold out of our t-shirts with 3 shows to go. It went so well that we are currently planning another tour for later this year and possibly going to Europe for some shows next year! I hope we can do it! I would love to tour there!

Q: whats it like backstage at an atrocious abnormality show?

Brent - Well, most of the time we ust try and sit back and relax before we get on stage. Steve is usually busy working the Comatose table, and I will work the Atrocious merch table while walking around and hanging out with fans/friends. We love to enjoy ourselves as much as possible! There is nothing like being around all death metal freaks and tons of booze! hahah

Q: how do you feel that your debut (echoes of the rotting) album has been recieved so far?

Brent - I feel like it has been recieved quite well. Like I said earlier the first pressing of the CD is almost sold out, only 10-15 CD's left after 8 months or so, so I guess thats pretty good for a debut release from a new band. We hope to sell the next 1000 quicker!

Q: after the tour, what are your plans (i know atleast one more of our crew is looking forward to a follow-up to "Echoes")?

Brent - Thanks, we plan on using the latter half of the year to write new material for our second release. We have some really sick riffs already, and I cant wait to get started on some new songs! We are hoping to have a demo out before the end of the year.

Q: and finally, any last words to the readers?

Brent - A huge thank you for taking the time to read this and support the brutal metal scene! And thank you Dennis for the sick interview! Hails and horns up! lml

MP5K interview (done for www.decayed-metal.com, replicated here)

I got a pleasurable talk with Andy from Stockholms masters of brutality MP5K.

Q: hows it going with the new material? Any idea of a date when we will get our filthy hands on it?

A: its on its way, we recently got signed to Imbecil entertainment Records from the Ukraine so two entirely new songs will be recorded in addition to the previous four planned for the recording.
A date is hard to give as it feels like disaster always strikes us, but we are hoping for a release before the end of the year.

Q: its a shame what happened to the material you already had committed to tape, can you describe how it felt and what really happened?

A: we had recorded the four songs for the demo and everything was in the process of mixing/mastering when a waterleak destroyed the harddrives where all the material was stored. Of course it felt extremely annoying and irritating! We were very stoked on hearing the results and then something like this happens. But there has come some good things from the situation aswell, we now have the possibility to record it all again and add two songs to it.

Q: will there be any more live gigs for MP5K in a foreseeable future?

A: the way things are right now we will pour most of our time into writing the two new songs and recording our next release but we are always hyped and ready for gigs aswell.

Q: what do you do when you dont record firstclass brutality?

A: hmm well, when we arent playing with MP5K some of us have other bands and projects, outside of music its either jobs or school depending on who youre asking.

Q: what is your view on downloading music? Does it bother you in any way or is it just great that more people get a hold of your stuff?

A: we see it as a positive thing that people download our music and that it is available out on the web. We want as many as possible to be able to listen to our material, so there isnt any problems whatsoever with people downloading our music for free. Its a lot more fun when people buy merchandise.

Q: any bizarre band memories?

A: there is a couple of them, but the most bizarre had to be on our first gig wich was a freefestival in Värmland. There was the most insane raining , we were the last band to play and the audience consisted of about ten people there to see us in the downpour. It felt a little weird to go crazy in front of such a small crowd, but we had a great time.

Q: in short what is a MP5K gig?

A: a massive dose of groove, slam and violence from the first to the last song

Thank you Andy and good luck to you and the band with the new recording. The demo Deranged Stockholm syndrome is reviewed over at www.decayed-metal.com, and is also available through the band at: http://www.myspace.com/mp5ksthlm

Awaiting the autopsy-Could’nt tell the bodies apart

Looking at the cover I have to say that I am quite impressed, I stuff the disc in my cd-player and what follows is what I have anticipated since I reviewed their demo (Eight girls instead of nine) for www.decayed-metal.com. This is pure slam brutality with female vox and some really groovy bits thrown into the mix like kidneys into a milkshake. One of the funniest moments in death metal this year has to be the MC Hammer sample used in the song Feet first woodchopper suicide. This album was well worth the wait I had to endure. Germans don’t only create insane scat-porn and other weird genres of erotic pleasure but now also audio orgasmic music for me and all of you to buttfuck whatever we sleep with. These guys have huge potential to get huge within the genre aswell and should be supported as fucking much as you possibly can. Get this album and fucking bang your head till your brains fall out of your nose and onto your floor for forensics to pick the fuck up.

Visceranalspermatorgiasticpus-Diva futura grind

Theres an annoying drummachine here that i will never be able to get out of my head again thank you fucks. The album is low frequency all the way through and the guitars are extremely fucking distorted.there is that presence of malice and doom hanging over the recording and the atmosphere created is that of an annoying timer ready to set of an explosive fucking force of music, to bad that explosion never really comes since the production has put all the instruments on the same wavelength creating an unhearable sludge of semen and analsewage for your ears to wade through. There really isn’t that much in the sense of variation going on here and the songs are only distinguishable from each other because of the samples.

Torsofuck-Erotic diarrhea fantasy

Porn is a great subject when looking for samples and inspiration when writing and composing great music. No studio is complete without some movies of people getting assfucked and shat upon in true German dubbing. Torsofuck embody the true vile face of humanity, everyone wants to be free of their sexual constraints and for a moment these guys deliver some highspeed sickness and erotica. If you like your buttfucking with some female intestinal sludge hugging your phallus then this is for you. Its all about the stuff we want to do and might never be able to, the music itself lets us experience the mutilation of a female for sexual purposes and some really great fuckscenes are displayed in audio format. I thoroughly enjoyed this album from start to finish.

The dark prison massacre-my cock is the truth promo

This two song promo filled with some slamming brutal chop-ups is actually good, some of the stuff is generic but by now most shit that’s good has already been done right? No, it hasn’t but you might not need to re-invent the genre with every album either. This record has a production that lets all the instruments shine through in their own right. High and low pitched guttural vocals that don’t sound like mongoloid shit dripping off the wall. It surely has some deathcore vibes aswell but see beyond that and you’ll find some serious brutal shit with groove.

Sexual assault-Demo 2008

These guys got some great production for being a demo, but the guitars sound a bit monotone anyways. The vocalist isn’t really hitting off in a great manner either, the voice is way to high pitched overall and I think the album would have a better sound if they kept it in a lower pitch. The samples range from screaming females (probably having some fun) to spanking and everything inbetween. For the next release I fucking hope they leave that retarded synthshit out though its just fucking annoying and pretty much makes me want to turn the album off right away. Retarded shit aside it’s a pretty good demo, but they need to iron out some issues in my mind.

Red hot piggys pussy/Bitch infection/Teen pussy fucker-XXX ways vol. 2 split

RHPP start this split off, they play some weird kind of worthlessly produced brutal shit. Again this is some kind of cybercrap and sounds like retards playing with instruments. I cant stand this sort of shit and since I am law I changed to Bitch infection. Porn is sampled and used like a teenager in Thailand, Bitch infection starts off with moaning females and then turns on the music. Drums and compared to RHPP a well arranged and sounding song. There exists something here that Is called difference, the instruments are all allowed to come through and they don’t sound as retarded as the albums first artist. Production is still a bit of a letdown. On to Teen pussy fuckers, production is still haunting this recording but as for the three bands these guys deliver the most interesting piece of porn-induced analraping brutality on here, there are variations in the instruments and vox. The songs are structured around several parts ranging from slow slamming grooves and breakdowns to blasting fucks.

Cumbeast-Human piñata

Brutal music is the main influence on this blog, this is brutal death in the mid-range of a scale going from excellent to shit-poor. There isn’t anything new added to the genre and I wouldn’t have cried buckets if I hadn’t heard this album, its good enough to have in my collection. The samples are actually hilarious at some parts and the first one made me laugh. The songtitles are as the lyrics what I and every fucked up brutal music fan have come to expect. Mutilation, sex, violence and deep guttural vox mixed with some mid frequency fucks. The riffs are pretty unremarkable but have some more groove to them than most other albums in the genre. As stated, a mid-level album.

Brutal nekkro sex-Teen lesbian fuck

Not only do this piece of shit recording have the worst production value in the history of retards using a mixer. Fuck this crap is extremely horrible and probably not meant for distribution at all. Some retard burping on the microphone that came attached to the kiddie synth that he is using for melodies. The drums are probably from the same piece of shit technological mishap. Worst kind of cybergorefucktard album. Kind of cool cover though, lame but cool.

Putrid Mastication-Butchered baby backyard digger

This slam-oriented outfit has created something brutal but non-inventing, this shit is generic slam death and not much else. Drums are obviously programmed and I have to say I don’t know why people still use shitty machines for this anymore. I mean there are lots of great samples and machines for that shit out there right now. As earlier stated this is generic and nothing really stands out, get it if you feel the need to own more slam death that you probably wouldn’t even fuck your girlfriend to.

Fleshbomb-At the first stage of perversion

Brutal fucking death metal! First thoughts are that this is one fucked up great record that I had missed I should put some razorwire up my ass for that. This isn’t just any kind of brutal shit either its actually well composed and expertly executed, first song and human skull kick-off Amputat orgasm starts off this album and let me tell you it slays. There are some samples spread across the album and they add to the atmosphere and fucked up feeling in my gut. High speed blasts with low frequency grunts and high pitched shrieks all consummating the unholy marriage created by the sick riffs and basslines groovier than grandmas hairless cunt. Buy this shit.

Cyanide ejaculation/Dicksuck-Nothing like butt sex double date split

This shit embody all that is wrong in the world of fucked up brutal music today, this is what happens when the people who rotted their brains to the trance Poison cover. I fucking hate shit like the crap Cyanide ejaculation has released here. Fucking cunteaters. The porno samples are the best bit and that says a lot. Dicksuck has some kind of worthless sound-effect that sounds like diarrhea shit hitting the bowl at highs speed, otherwise this is comedic high-speed grind with lots of distortion and adds nothing new to the genre.

Sperma-Porn, porn and more porn

So I got my hands on this release, a demo by Sperma a porngoregrind band, it´s actually pretty good I was clearly fucking surprised since most of these bands usually sound like shit for real. Here we have as always when porn is included in the title of a genre, lots of porn-samples. The vocals are roughly what I expected and sound like mouldy cuntfarts most of the time, for this kind of music that means awesome. The bad parts are mostly the guitars that are more reminiscent of black metal sounding shit than brutal crazy ass music this makes the record a bit boring at times. More shit like this will be appreciated any day though. So go check out Sperma right away and support these sick fucks as best you can.

Bibleblack - The Black Swan Epilogue (Vic Records, 2009)

This is a brand new band featuring Mike Wead (King Diamond/Mercyful Fate) Simon Johansson (Memory Garden) Tobhias Ljung (The Bereaved) and Kacper Rozanski and Jonaz Bülund from Nattas. "The Black Swan Epilogue" is a hard and aggresive album that should speak to fans of both death metal and thrash metal or just people who enjoys a good metal album. The album is brilliantly mixed by Fredrik Groth (The Storyteller) and the album reeks of brutality. Kacper Rozanski uses his voice like a weapon and screams out all his anger and hatred at once, Mike Wead´s guitar skills really shows off on this record, specially in the title track "The Black Swan Epilogue". The album will be released as a digipack with additional artwork and as a jewel case with a bonus dvd on the 15 of june, run to your record store and get it, you will not regret it. I guess there is only one thing left to say about "The Black Swan Epilogue", and that is "I am legion, I am bibleblack!.

Dismember live at Ungdomens hus in Uppsala 23/5 08 (Support: Degial+Eviscerated)

This Report/Interview has been published on www.decayed-metal.com before and is re-published here with some of the pictures that I took at the gig. so with nothing further to add, enjoy the reading and please excuse my worthless photography skills:

Standing outside the venue of the nights death-destruction (in this case Ungdomens hus in Uppsala Sweden) in the evening sun of our northern climate Martin Persson (guitar) walks up to me and asks if im the guy doing the interview with the band, he then asks me if its ok to do it in a little while since the guys need to eat first.
So in we go, and after a while (one batterychange in the camera and a Dr. Pepper later) Tobias Christiansson (bass) aproaches me, im not used to people being able to look me in the eye with a straight neck but Tobias has no problems here. We step outside into the warmth of our scandinavian motherlands fresh sunny air.

Decayed metal- will there be a US tour soon?
Tobias- we were there back in 2006 with Grave.
He then tells us that the money isnt that good on the other side of the pond and that the scene is still very much underground. People seem to be more interested in bands like Creed. But there has been talks about doing Canada in the fall.

Decayed metal- wich beer is your favorite?
Tobias- Czech beer is a good overall, Staropramen is nice.

DM- why did you go melodic?
Tobias- Thats mostly because of David (Blomqvist, guitar), he wanted to use guitar harmonies and melodic stuff. It was pretty unusual in the beginning.

DM-whats it like being veterans in the genre?
Tobias- it feels good, shit what to say. There was a bunch of bands who started this, Entombed, Grave Dismember etc . they just dont quit even if its not as big nowadays as it was back then. Its not like i walk around and think about it.

DM- life on tour, party or the more mature route?
Tobias- well not that mature, theres partying.its easy to get stuck in a squirrelwheel, hangovers lead to more beer. Sometimes theres no energy left to party, its all about the circumstances if its even possible and who youre with at the time. Today he`s sober since he`s driving.

DM- whats your view on the music business today?
Tobias- its a bit slow so to speak, since the popularity of the internet and downloading fewer records are sold. Theres more money in performing live since the music is underground and people pay to see their favourite bands.
Tobias also tells us that he wants to own the whole album, not just a file on his computer.

DM- alot of old school bands release new material, why?
Tobias- thats probably just a coincidence.

DM- whats your view on doing a wedding gig?
Tobias- (laughs), that would feel very weird. He now tells us of a thing that happened on the last tour when they were aproached by a couple who had used “Dreaming in red” (Indecent and obscene, Nuclear blast 1993) on their wedding. As a finale that night the band had played that song.

DM- what makes a band longlived?
Tobias- there has to be a dedication to the music. You must like what youre doing. Comunication and personal chemistry are also very important. You should also enjoy touring. Everybody has the right to have a bad day.

DM- any last words for the readers?
Tobias- buy the new album, fuck thats standard, see us live! Fact is that live is one hundred percent, people who pay to see us should get a great night. Some bands look like theyre bored but not us we love performing live, we want the audience see and feel that we do aswell.

And with that we shook hands and went back inside. Eviscerated had started their set just seconds before we got back inside and were in the middle of their second song of the evening. Sadly the sound wasnt top notch and that makes a lot of difference when trying to listen to the music aswell as experiencing it with our eyes. But they still managed to deliver their brand of deathmetal to the audience.
They left the stage for Degial who claimed it in smoke after another Dr. Pepper or two. By now the bad sound of eviscerated was making everything pretty much useless, the band performed well but the songs were totally unhearable due to the awful sound. This i fear is more due to the bands themselves more than the engineer. Degial leave us with a desire to hear whatever it was they tried to perform, perhaps at a better stage with another sound somewhere else.

Enter tonights headliners, Dismember, lowering the volume and getting a grade A sound (compared to the supporting bands horrid sound) from the start creates a huge difference, we are treated to Iron maiden banners and a yellow mascot amongst other things. The band then starts off the slaughter.
Fuck this is good, these gentlemen tear the stage from the floor with their energy and playfulness. With a setlist containing most if not all of their old huge hits mixed with stuff from the new album they skullfuck pretty much everyone there. Dismember really show that the words of Tobias are true, they make sure everyone has a good night and look like theyre seriously enjoying their sacred craft of Stockholm death.
Watching Erik from Watain sing along to the older songs just shows how ace these guys are.
Dismember leaves the stage and the night is still young, i sit on the bus home listening to Reborn in blasphemy and just enjoy myself.

Degial, Eviscerated and Dismember:

Artery eruption/Inhuman dissiliency-Festering fuckhole slop [Split]

So a split on the brutal side of life, my ears agree with the grooves created by the terminal Artery eruption songs, though at some times the production lets it down a bit i think. Great screeching pigsqueelish vox coupled with some low frequency gargling of female intestines. Slowpaced (upbeat at times)brutal fuckmusic for everyone is the deal of the day. The second part of this split is caringly chopped up into pieces by Inhuman dissiliency, their take on brutality is more uptempo, like the tempo you fuck your neighbours 16 year-old daughter to death with. Some slower grinding parts are intermingled here aswell. The vox ranges from low to high pitched brutality witout ever being comprehensible in any way.
So gargle away and get some candy to lure that cunt to your apartment, put this on and destroy her ass! (the neighbouring fuckwhore 16 year-old that is)

Menstruator/Wargasm-Addicted to tragedy [split]

Look at that awesome fucking cover Menstruator has created, judging by that you know this album will kill rape and dismember in your stereo. Menstruator actually has the aural action too, theyre not just an empty threat like most shitty bands out there with naked dismembered women on their albums. Their material has sort of an old school grind feel to it coupled with modern brutality vox, its fucking enjoyable thats what it is.
Wargasm has a hard time keeping up with their predecessors though, they are a bit of a let-down on the album with overly awful production and songstructures reminiscent of fourteen yearolds fucking goats, fun for a second or two but then it just gets annoying. They deliver mostly covers from grindlegends such as Napalm death and Extreme noise terror.

Get this album for the Menstruator songs, they fucking violate the retards in Wargasm.

Psychotic homicidal dismemberment-Pulverizing prostitutes for pigs feed

This 07 release by one man band PHD certainly has a programmed feel to the drums and some sick distorted guitars. It sounds like your fucking ancestors dismembered corpses would whilst being raped by fifty horse hung retards at the local cemetary. Highspeed brutality with low frequency guttural grunts eminating from a rotten anal cavity describes it pretty well i guess. I big fat bag of groove has been thrown in aswell to break up the monotony of the hacksaw assault that is otherwise all consuming on this release, i have had a great time with this and it will spin again, however perhaps not as much as other records from that year.

Splattered mermaids-Stench of flesh

Splattered mermaids-stench of flesh

Shit this is great! Thats my first reaction, and quite frankly im not disappointed as the record keeps spinning. Brutal groove deathgrind? Well take the best parts of Pantera and run it through some brutal death catacombs add the vocals of Johan Bergström (Havok) and let it rip. I love groovy jump up and down metal, and this fits the bill nicely. However, make no mistake this is straight up death with exceptionally catchy songs. The band is made up of the above mentioned Mr. Bergström aswell as the guitars of Johan Hallberg, the drums of Martin Schönherr (Virgin sin, Deranged) and bass by Martin Eklöv (session bassist for Visceral bleeding ) making it sort of an allstar line-up.

The musical delivery is made better with a good production, the lack of solos doesnt really hurt either, what do hurt though is the similarity between songs its hard to single out certain songs from eachother. The last song on the album “Restless dreams of atrocity” opens with a melody that reminds me alot of Dismember, the song is instrumental and a nice finish to such an album. Opener “Face laceration” does what it says, and follower the title track “Stench of flesh” keeps the steamroller going opening directly after the first song. The album just keeps this up to the last track without letting up before it. The groovy parts sometimes resemble breakdowns but sound so much better.

To sum it up, i now know whats joining Decrepit birth on the 2008 best of list.
