MP5K interview (done for www.decayed-metal.com, replicated here)

I got a pleasurable talk with Andy from Stockholms masters of brutality MP5K.

Q: hows it going with the new material? Any idea of a date when we will get our filthy hands on it?

A: its on its way, we recently got signed to Imbecil entertainment Records from the Ukraine so two entirely new songs will be recorded in addition to the previous four planned for the recording.
A date is hard to give as it feels like disaster always strikes us, but we are hoping for a release before the end of the year.

Q: its a shame what happened to the material you already had committed to tape, can you describe how it felt and what really happened?

A: we had recorded the four songs for the demo and everything was in the process of mixing/mastering when a waterleak destroyed the harddrives where all the material was stored. Of course it felt extremely annoying and irritating! We were very stoked on hearing the results and then something like this happens. But there has come some good things from the situation aswell, we now have the possibility to record it all again and add two songs to it.

Q: will there be any more live gigs for MP5K in a foreseeable future?

A: the way things are right now we will pour most of our time into writing the two new songs and recording our next release but we are always hyped and ready for gigs aswell.

Q: what do you do when you dont record firstclass brutality?

A: hmm well, when we arent playing with MP5K some of us have other bands and projects, outside of music its either jobs or school depending on who youre asking.

Q: what is your view on downloading music? Does it bother you in any way or is it just great that more people get a hold of your stuff?

A: we see it as a positive thing that people download our music and that it is available out on the web. We want as many as possible to be able to listen to our material, so there isnt any problems whatsoever with people downloading our music for free. Its a lot more fun when people buy merchandise.

Q: any bizarre band memories?

A: there is a couple of them, but the most bizarre had to be on our first gig wich was a freefestival in Värmland. There was the most insane raining , we were the last band to play and the audience consisted of about ten people there to see us in the downpour. It felt a little weird to go crazy in front of such a small crowd, but we had a great time.

Q: in short what is a MP5K gig?

A: a massive dose of groove, slam and violence from the first to the last song

Thank you Andy and good luck to you and the band with the new recording. The demo Deranged Stockholm syndrome is reviewed over at www.decayed-metal.com, and is also available through the band at: http://www.myspace.com/mp5ksthlm
